Superior Livestock January 5th Video Auction
Superior Livestock Auction hosted their video auction live on January 5th from the Superior Livestock Auction Studio in Hudson Oaks, Texas. Cattle producers offered over 17,468 head of calves, yearlings and bred stock from 18 states for this auction. Cattle were sold on contract to deliver immediately through September 2023. Superior Livestock went live with the auction at 8 a.m. CT. The January 5th Video Auction was broadcast in HD on SLA-TV, Dish Network Ch. 997 and streamed on Superior Livestock Auction’s Click to Bid website. The first auction of 2023 was met with much anticipation and delivered a very bullish market report. Started off the new year on a strong market with aggressive bidding on all classes. Region 3/4/5/6 Feeder Steers were steady to $6 higher on lighter weights and $3 to $10 higher on heavier weights. Heifers were also steady to $5 higher on all weights. Region 1 & 2 Feeder Steers were in short supply but were met with aggressive bidding. Strong showing for Beef Dairy Crosses moving out $15 to $25 higher than our last auction. Calves from all regions were $15 to $30 higher on lighter weights as much of the country’s grazing areas have received welcomed moisture. |

Superior Livestock Auction hosted their video auction live on December 1st from the Superior Livestock Auction Studio in Hudson Oaks, Texas. Cattle producers offered over 26,000 head of calves, yearlings and bred stock from 23 states for this auction. Cattle were sold on contract to deliver immediately through August 2023. Superior Livestock went live with the auction at 8 a.m. CDT. The December 1st Video Auction was broadcast in HD on SLA-TV, Dish Network Ch. 997 and streamed on Superior Livestock Auction’s Click to Bid website. Lighter trading last and moisture over much of the Midwest provided a very optimistic market for Superior Livestock’s December 1st Video Auction. Regions 3/4/5/6 Feeder Steers were met with a very strong demand and were $4 to $6 higher than last test. Buyer participation was also noticeable stronger on Feeder Heifers from the same regions moving out at $6 to $8 higher. Regions 1 & 2 were only lightly tested but were $5 to $10 higher on limited sales. Beef dairy crosses were well received at $10 to $15 higher on over 6,000 head of steers and heifers. Regions 1 & 2 Weaned Calves were rewarded with premiums $7 to $10 higher than our last offering. Regions 3/4/5/6 Weaned Calves ready for grazing were in high demand; calves under 600 lbs were $10 to $20 higher and calves over 600 lbs were $7 to $12 higher. |

Superior Livestock Auction hosted their video auction live on November 17th from the Superior Livestock Auction Studio in Hudson Oaks, Texas. Cattle producers offered over 26,000 head of calves, yearlings and bred stock from 21 states for this auction. Cattle were sold on contract to deliver immediately through August 2023. Superior Livestock went live with the auction at 8 a.m. CDT. The November 17th Video Auction was broadcast in HD on SLA-TV, Dish Network Ch. 997 and streamed on Superior Livestock Auction’s Click to Bid website. The market continues to guess which will prevail the drought conditions or herd rebuilding; if Superior’s market report and bred stock offering are any indication herd rebuilding and optimism are returning with a bullish market report seen across all classes of cattle. Regions 3/4/5/6 Feeder Steers witnessed strong demand and higher prices across all weights. Lighter steers under 700 pds were $4 to $8 higher and heavier weights saw an increase of $12 dollars higher. Feeder Heifers were also in strong demand moving at $3 to $6 higher than last test. Regions 1&2 Feeder Steers and Heifers were only lightly tested but saw a demand at $5 to $7 higher. Beef Dairy Cross also were in high demand being rewarded at $8 to $10 higher. Regions 1&2 Weaned Calves were again in limited supply. Regions 3/4/5/6 Weaned Calves were well received with lighter weights under 550 lbs being fully steady to $6 - $15 higher. There was a strong buying on Bred Heifers seeing premiums at $2,000 per head. |
