Red Angus Age Source Identification Program
Each year Superior Livestock Auction hosts the “Video Royale XVIII” in Winnemucca, Nevada. This year the auction dates are August 2-6, 2010. Past experience has proven the “Video Royale XIII” to be one of our biggest auctions and one of our very best to consign your good calves and yearlings. Cattlemen realize the importance and incredible value of selecting for superior carcass traits. There is no question that quality Red Angus-sired calves receive premiums due to the benefits of increased carcass merit which is evident for the commercial cattleman come auction time. Add additional value to your Red-Angus-sired calves by enrolling with the Red Angus Age Source Identification program. It’s backed by the USDA and is free to enroll. The yellow ear tag signifies, that they are certified Red Angus, age, source There is also an opportunity for seedstock producers to receive national exposure by branding their ranch name/logo on-screen on RFD-TV when their bull buying customers sell their calves on SLA through the Superior Progressive Genetics (SPG) program. SPG is intended to aid commercial cattlemen when they market their calves and ultimately generate a greater premium when the calves sell. If you have any questions about the “Video Royale XVIII” other Superior Livestock Auction sales or programs, please contact the Fort Worth, Texas office at (800) 422-2117. Partnering For Beef Sales

There's no top hat or rabbit, but it's like magic that turns a single beef checkoff dollar into nearly $25. That's because, for every beef checkoff dollar invested in a beef partnership, Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) companies, such as Kraft and Anheiser-Busch, are investing an average of nearly $25 in that same promotion.

And, when you start adding things up, that makes for a return on investment that any Wall Street investor would extol. In 2010, for example, CPG companies are investing nearly $16.6 million in beef promotions with your beef checkoff, compared to the checkoff's $665,500 investment. Then there's the additional return to the industry in incremental sales of millions of pounds of beef each year.

This year the checkoff's partnerships include distribution of some 100 million beef-only coupon incentives- where the CPG companies, not the checkoff, pay redemption costs. In addition to growing sales in general, coupons often result in consumers " buying up" from ground beef to roast or steak to treat themselves and their families because they can get it for less.

Also part of the checkoff's Summer Grilling Program partnerships, running from memorial Day through Labor Day this year, are promotion of steaks from its "Beef Alternative Marketing" middle-meats promotion, as well as extensive recipe distribution and ethnic recipe promotions that help get out the good word about beef's taste, safety and nutrition.

According to Fresh Look Marketing and PromoData, dollar sales of middle meats advanced a healthy 31.9 percent during the first quarter of Fiscal Year 2010, and beef-featuring by retailers grew 3.7 percent in January alone. Beef has gained visibility in retailer ads, and is the meat represented in about 45 percent of all meat ads.

For more information about this summer’s retail partnerships and promotion programs, visit Summer Retail Promotions.

An Investment In Your Beef Checkoff Is An Investment In Your Future!

You’re probably familiar with the “Beef. It’s What’s For Dinner” advertising campaign, which is funded with your beef checkoff dollars. But, there are a lot of less-visible programs, such as the retail partnerships featured here, that you help make possible with your checkoff investment. So, as you buy and sell cattle at Superior Livestock’s auctions, remember, you’re also investing in your national self-help program for the promotion of beef and beef products – the Beef Checkoff Program.

Keep in mind, too, that the beef checkoff acts as a catalyst for change. The checkoff doesn’t own cattle, packing plants or retail outlets. It can’t single-handedly turn around a bad market. Instead, the checkoff program was designed to stimulate others to sell more beef and stimulate consumers to buy more beef. Every dollar you invest is leveraged through programs in the areas of promotion, research, consumer information, industry information, foreign marketing and producer communications, all working toward the goal of building demand for beef globally.
