BQA Supports a NEW Set of Regional Seminars

The checkoff-funded Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) program is embarking on a new partnership to enhance and grow hands-on stockmanship learning opportunities for producers across the country.  Beginning in June, the Stockmanship and Stewardship program, supported by the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association and Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health, will stop at five locations around the country, providing beef producers with two days of hands-on education that will help improve their operation and bottom line.

Among the sessions offered during these events are lessons on horseback cattle handling, chute-side cattle handling, BQA training and preventative herd-health programs.  But that’s not all. The events will also include meals and entertainment to ensure attendees not only learn a lot but have a good time, too!

Well-known and respected clinicians Curt Pate and Ron Gill will be the primary instructors for these sessions, providing demonstrations and hands-on learning experiences that will be entertaining, lively and informative. Classroom sessions will be led by local experts and touch on the most relevant topics for local cattlemen and women.

“These new events will include a variety of educational opportunities for cattle producers,” said Chase DeCoite, Associate Director of Beef Quality Assurance. “We’ll include input from local extension representatives, industry leaders and government agencies, so the sessions will be sure to cover topics of interest to any cattle producer wanting to improve their cattle handling skills, as well as improve their profitability.”

The first event is set for June 23 and 24 in Davis, California, with subsequent events throughout the summer and early-fall in Lincoln, Nebraska; Starkville, Mississippi; Fort Collins, Colorado; and San Luis Obispo, California. Registration fees for each event include all events and meals. To learn more and register for these and other events, visit www.StockmanshipandStewardship.org. Spots are limited, so sign up today!
